Natural Dessicated Thyroid: Why I Think It's a Helpful Tool for Healing

Is taking Natural Dessicated Thyroid (NDT) equal to giving up? Somebody asked me this question the other day and it really got me thinking. I realised that I myself had thoughts like this for quite a while, which, to be honest, prevented me from feeling better sooner. NDT can be a very helpful tool in your healing journey, and this blog post will explain why. Hope you find this information helpful!

Gradually, as I read more and more, my thoughts changed and I realised that I could use this natural supplement to speed up my healing. I definitely don’t think that Natural Dessicated Thyroid is a crutch that I’ll have to rely on forever. I simply think that it’s a very valuable tool that can shorten the duration of your healing journey and can make the process so much easier on your body and mind.

So here are the reasons why I think Dessicated Natural Thyroid is a great healing tool:

  1. Your body doesn’t get addicted or used to the thyroid hormone. Once you stop taking NDT, your regular thyroid function will resume within several days, which means that you’ll always be able to stop in the future. I’ve tried starting and stopping myself a couple of times and yes, I could function just like I did before trying Natural Dessicated Thyroid.
  2. NDT can actually give a very needed rest to your thyroid, can slow down or prevent thyroid destruction by Hashimoto’s antibodies, and, in some cases, it can reduce or even get rid of thyroid antibodies. This is one of the most important reasons for me.
  3. Low thyroid can cause adrenal fatigue, or, in other words, low or high cortisol (you can find out more about my cortisol test results and how I’m lowering it naturally in these two videos). Supporting your thyroid with Natural Dessicated Thyroid can give your adrenals the rest that they need.
  4. Low thyroid can also cause estrogen dominance (and vice versa) because your body will struggle to clear excess estrogen with a sluggish thyroid (because a sluggish thyroid often leads to a sluggish liver). Excess estrogen causes inability to convert FT4 to FT3, cell resistance to thyroid hormone, and high levels of thyroid hormone binding globulin. All these reasons alone could cause hypothyroidism, so as you can see, it’s a vicious cycle that is really difficult to get out of without thyroid support. Hypothyroidism causes estrogen dominance, but then estrogen dominance causes hypothyroidism, and the cycle will keep reinforcing itself. That’s the reason why one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism is heavy periods.
  5. And finally, healing without Natural Dessicated Thyroid might take many years, and you might lose productivity and quality of life for a long time while you’re healing. NDT could help you feel so much better while you’re healing and getting rid of the root causes one by one.

These are all of the reasons why I don’t think that using Natural Dessicated Thyroid is giving up. It’s a tool, nothing else, and if used wisely, it can bring you the healing that you’re looking for. If not, at least it can improve your quality of life immensely.

What are your thoughts? Have you ever tried NDT? Are you on it right now? Or are you considering it? Let’s share our experiences!

Simply yours,
Vita xx
