My Updated Frizz-Proof Curly Hair Routine

My Updated Frizz-Proof Curly Hair Routine

There have been quite a few changes in my curly hair routine since the last one I showed you. I’ve changed a few products and also the way I do things. The result is frizz free and beautiful curls. I’m in love with this routine! Also, I love that all of the products are still quite natural.

  • The first thing I do more or less every other time I wash my hair is apply a little bit of Auromere pre-shampoo conditioning oil to my hair and leave it in for an hour or two. If I’m short of time, I’ll start washing straight away, but I always try to leave it in longer.
  • I wash my hair using Andalou Naturals Moisture Rich shampoo. It’s highly moisturising, smells gorgeous, and is very affordable. I don’t apply the shampoo on the lengths on my hair anymore (see my top 10 curly hair mistakes here). I only massage it into the roots very well.
  • The conditioner I’m using at the moment is the Mineral Fusion Curl Care conditioner. I apply a generous amount all over and leave it on for a few minutes while I first finger comb and then properly comb my hair with a wide tooth comb. I rinse off the conditioner lightly with cold water.
  • I squeeze my hair gently to remove excess water and then apply a quarter size amount of the Aveda Curl Enhancer from roots to tips. Then, I take my husband’s cotton t-shirt (which I use instead of a towel) and scrunch my hair with it.
  • Next, I take a pea size amount of the Alba Botanica Strong Hold Style Gel and scrunch it into my hair. I don’t run my fingers through my hair at any point beyond the conditioning step in the shower.
  • I leave my hair to air dry and I don’t touch it at all until it’s completely dry.
  • Once it’s completely dry, I scrunch a couple of drops of the Alaffia Beautiful Curls Nourishing Curl Oil into my curls. Depending on the weather, I might also add a tiny amount of the Aveda Brilliant Humectant Pomade (when it’s extremely dry outside, something like 10-20% of humidity) or the Anti-Humectant Pomade (when the humidity is at 70-80% or more). On a standard day like today when there the humidity is at 50%, I wouldn’t add anything beyond the curl oil.

Here’s a video of my curly hair routine, so you can see me doing all these steps in action:

This is everything I do on Day 1. Next time I’ll show you what I do with my curls on the 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes even the 4th day.

What are your trusted products? Any differences from your routine? Thank you for watching!

Vita xx
