11 Amazing Things I’ve Been Loving This Spring

11 spring favourites that have transformed my beauty routine, body, and mind

I said to Luca the other day that in the last few weeks I’ve learned more and made more discoveries than in the whole year (or even more). These 11 things sum up a big chunk of those discoveries. I love all these products to bits and I think you, guys, deserve to know about them.

These 11 things have collectively transformed my body, mind, and health so much more than anything else. Somehow since we lost our electricity supply, I’ve been getting the best ideas and finding the best products. Perhaps that’s because I’m more in tune with my intuition and my body’s needs without the distractions of constant access to technology? Who knows…

Let’s delve into the list of my 11 spring favorites!

1. Green Pastures Blue Ice Royal Butter Oil / Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend

fermented cod liver oil butter oil vitamin k2

I’ve been struggling with my teeth all of my life. You might think that having one cavity a year is awful, but I look back at it now and I think it was amazingly good. Because since I adopted a healthy lifestyle and started trying to eat healthier a couple of years ago, my dental health took a nosedive.

Why the hell did my skin clear up, but my teeth were hating it? What gives?

This question has been playing on repeat in my mind, and I couldn’t find any answers for the longest time. But I think I’m close to it now. I feel like my teeth and I have finally turned a corner.

One of the first things I did when I started suffering from sensitive teeth and numerous cavities was read “Cure Tooth  Decay” by Ramiel Nagel. I tried his protocol and my teeth got even worse. Another new cavity. Or two.

A bit later, I also read Weston A. Price’s “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration”, which is pretty much what “Cure Tooth Decay” is based on (with some misinterpretations, such as “grains are bad”, but that’s another story). Somehow I overlooked the same key thing in both books. Vitamin K2 is vital for successful tooth healing.

I was really broke, so I tried to close my eyes to the fact that Green Pastures Fermented Cod Liver Oil and Butter Oil blend were mentioned in every single book or blog post talking about healing tooth decay.

I was blind. I tried to be cheap (because those products are seriously pricey).

But in the meanwhile I caused myself two more cavities.

I was so desperate that I gave in and ordered this special oil blend thinking that buying it will still cost me much cheaper than paying the dentist, plus I’ll avoid all the harmful chemicals. My health is the most important thing, so thinking back, skimping 50 euros on my own health was silly, to say the least.

I received the product and I loved it. A lot. My teeth instantly felt better. The triad of Vitamins A, D, and K2 can make miracles. Not only for the teeth, but for the whole body. My husband went from one pullup to five within 24 hours after taking this mixture. Coincidence? I don’t know, but we’ve both been feeling better.

One of the tipping points for me was this article by Denise Minger, who I truly respect. She wrote an amazing book “Death by Food Pyramid” that I think everyone should read. She is one smart lady. Coincidentally, she also had huge problems with her teeth and she fixed them.

It means I can, too.

Another side effect I noticed since we started taking this oil is that my skin became incredibly soft and smooth. I love it!

2. Nature’s Plus Source of Life Garden Vitamin K2 (MK-7, from natto)

Once the Fermented Cod Liver Oil and Butter Oil blend ran out, I ordered liquid fermented cod liver oil (which we both love, by the way – most people hate the taste) and natto-based vitamin K2 (in MK-7 form). I wanted to see if I could find a cheaper alternative to the Green Pastures High Vitamin Butter Oil.

The verdict is it works well. If money wasn’t the question, I would go for the High Vitamin Butter Oil without a doubt, but considering that it’s extremely difficult to get it shipped here and it’s really expensive, this natto-based version does the job almost as well.

Next, I’m going to order the MK-4 version, which is supposed to be almost as good as the High Vitamin Butter Oil for the teeth. I’ll let you know how that goes.

If you want to read more about the importance of vitamin K2 or Activator X as Weston A. Price used to call it, look into this book: “Vitamin K2 and Calcium Paradox: How a Little-Known Vitamin Could Save Your Life” by Kate Rheaume-Bleue. It’s truly eye-opening. I feel like it finally put all the puzzle pieces into the right places in my brain. Everything finally makes sense and I can finally begin to understand what happened to my teeth in the last couple of years.

3. Sante Organic Hand Cream

Spring Favorites: Sante Hand Cream With Goji and Olive Oil

I love using jojoba oil for my hands and cuticles before I go to bed. They also get some oil on them when I use the OCM or apply some oil on my face. However, it’s not always practical. It’s almost impossible to keep reapplying oil throughout the day as it takes a while to absorb and it’s not easy to carry it around with me.

Lately, I’ve been trying to get into the habit of applying some hand cream on my hands every time I wash them. I went to the local health shop and purchased this hand cream not really expecting too much. It was super affordable, and I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it out. It smells gently of lemons, it nourishes my hands very well, it absorbs without living any stickiness, and I can carry it around and reapply throughout the day.

Nothing will beat my oils for the night, but during the day nothing can beat a good, basic hand cream. If you’re looking for one, I highly recommend this Sante one with bio-goji and olive oil.

4. Sante Hair Styling Gel

Another Sante product. Smile I’ll tell you the truth: I first bought the hair gel and loved it so much that when I needed a hand cream, my hands naturally navigated towards a Sante product. I’m a very loyal customer.

My Green People Styling Gel was running out and I was ready for something new with a bit more hold. Sante Styling Gel works perfectly on my type of curls. I need a tiny amount and it smells so good. I don’t even know what it smells like, but it’s some kind of spice. Lovely and natural. I highly recommend it.

Talking about hair care routine, a lot of things have changed, i think I’ll film a new hair care routine video soon. Although that might be challenging without any light in the bathrooms (no windows there unfortunately). We’ll see how that goes.

5. Hurraw Tinted Lip Balm in Cinnamon

I already mentioned these amazing lip balms in a separate blog post, but I just had to mention them again. I’m obsessed! I’ve been using the Tinted Cinnamon one non-stop. It tastes amazing, keeps my lips smooth, and has a lovely red sheer tint (it’s almost invisible, but gives a lovely sheen).

I think these are my favorite lip balms of all time and possibly the most affordable ones ever, too. That’s a great combination.

6. Wooden Wide-Tooth Hair Comb

Spring Favorites: Wooden Wide-Tooth Hair Comb

I spent a few months without combing or brushing my hair, but I got bored. My hair looks awesome on the first day after washing, but then it looks a bit unkempt on the second and third day. I feel like it’s not curly enough to look good uncombed beyond the first day.

So I grabbed my trusted wooden hair comb again and I’ve been giving my hair a gentle comb on the second, third, and sometimes the fourth day (if I’m keeping it longer between washes).

I like wooden combs and brushes because they don’t create static and transfer sebum so well from the roots to the length of my hair. They look beautiful as well. If you’re a curly or wavy girl yourself, I think you’ll love a comb like this.

7. Coconut Oil

I’ve always had a bit of a love and hate relationship with coconut oil. I love it for some things, I hate it for others. Somehow, lately the scale has tipped towards love. I’ve started using it for so many more things.

I now use coconut oil for body massages, for my feet, as an oil mask for my hair (again, and this time I made it work properly), it’s in my DIY deodorant, I eat at least one tablespoon of it a day. Well, you could say that coconut oil is one of my favourite oils now.

I’ll be talking more about my new ways of using it in the next videos and blog posts. I have so much to share.

8. Tea Tree Oil

I’ve been applying a drop or two on my cotton pad with rosewater every night, but these days I use it for so much more. Tea tree oil is a star in my new dental care routine. I cannot wait to tell you more about it, but you have to give me a little more time. I want to make sure it really works before I tell you what I’m doing.

So I’ve been using tea tree oil for my mouth and teeth, I’m still applying it with rosewater on my face, I rub a drop into my floss, I mix a drop or two with coconut oil before applying it on my hair. Tea tree oil is my saviour, literally.

9. Vapour Organic Beauty Aura Multi Use Blush in Courtesan

A while ago, I reviewed a few tester size products from this brand, and I wasn’t impressed with most of them. Apart from this blush. I find it doesn’t work as well with mineral foundation powder (cream and powder don’t mix well), but it works amazingly well with bare skin or a creamy foundation.

I love how natural it is, and I’m still using that tiny tester I had because such a tiny amount is needed every time. I think I’ll repurchase a full-size product once I run out and I’ll probably get a couple more testers of different colours to test out. It’s such a great little blush and the colour is perfect for spring.

10. Trilogy Organic Rosehip Oil

One of my readers (Renata, thanks for that!) told me that she recently started using rosehip oil and she was loving it. I’ve always known it was amazing for scars, but I didn’t want to spend money on yet another oil. I’m so loyal to pumpkin seed oil, I didn’t want to cheat on it.

But I gave in and purchased rosehip oil from Trilogy when I saw it on sale at 25% off. A good bargain is a good bargain. Can’t let it go.

I love it! It’s my favorite oil of all times (sorry pumpkin seed oil!) I still use pumpkin seed oil for cleansing, but for moisturizing, nothing beats rosehip oil.

Just like with hair care, a lot of things have changed in my skincare routine, so I’ll be making an updated version soon. I just need to find a way to film with pitch darkness in the bathroom. I’m sure I’ll find a way around it. Perhaps I’ll film in the kitchen or something like that.

In the meanwhile, just know that rosehip oil is fantastic!

11. “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay

Spring cleaning my mind has been one of the top priorities this spring. I had too many bugs in my mind for too long. It’s time to let them go. I was full of resentment and I was too critical of myself all of my life. I realized it was time to set myself free, so I read Louise’s book searching for help.

“You Can Heal Your Life” is probably the most healing and helpful self-help book I’ve ever read. Truly amazing. If you have any areas of your life that need healing (and we all do), you must read it. I feel like I’ve made more progress since reading the book than in all of my life. I’m slowly healing my life thanks to Louise.

At the end of her book, Louise shares her own story. Oh my God, she’s truly an inspiration. It’s unbelievable what she had to go through in her life and look at her now. Just wow. We need more people like her on this Earth.

And then I forgot to mention another thing that I took a picture off, but totally forgot to count it in. It’s a humble tongue cleaner. As you know, I’m very much into Ayurveda and tongue cleansing is a huge thing in the Ayurvedic morning routine, so I finally got one from a local pharmacy. It’s not ideal because I wanted a metal one, but a plastic one will do for now until I get a proper one. It works so well! My tongue has never been cleaner. I use it every morning and every night. According to Ayurveda, you should wipe your tongue with the tongue cleaner seven times (there is something magical about number 7 n Ayurveda).

I guess these are all of the 11 (or 12) things I wanted to tell you about. I’m so happy that I have this blog where I can share things like this with you. It feels amazing being able to spread love and inspiration.

If you have any products or books that you absolutely love this spring as well, please let me know in the comments! Your recommendations are always amazing.

By the way, I’ve found some of the most helpful books because you told me about them, so please keep doing that!

Lots of love,

Vita xx

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed “You can heal your life” by Louise Hay! I’m reading “The power is within you” now, which is also amazing. I love coconut oil for cooking but not for everything else (just the DIY deodorant) since it breaks me out. Tea tree is life saver, I always keep it handy, so good for spots and mosquito bites! (Mosquitos love me to death. To my death, I mean.) And I got my Ayurvedic tongue cleanser here (all the oils sold in this web are superb, too): http://www.fushi.co.uk/beauty/face-care/oral-hygiene.html (Once you cleansed your tongue for the first time and realizedd how much dirt and toxins were there, you cannot stop doing, right?) xx 🙂

  2. You’ve inspired me – I will have to get back into taking fermented cod liver oil again! Was taking it for a while in the capsule form but switched over to the cinnamon gel and just haven’t been able to stomach it! Have read so many good things about it and great to hear it’s working for you 🙂 That’s very interesting about your husband too and the pull-ups!

    • Haha! Glad I inspired you, Amy! 🙂 The capsule form is sooooo expensive compared to liquid. I think I would probably hate the cinnamon version. I mean fish with cinnamon. Naaaaaah! But the natural version tastes just like canned sardines. I don’t think it tastes that bad. xx

  3. Hi Vita, I tried to buy the product for teeth, “Green Pastures Blue Ice Royal Butter Oil / Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend”, but it can’t be shipped to Canada through Amazon. Do you know another way around?

    Thank you very much
    Jing

  4. I was going through your blog posts back to back and what a surprise I found – my name in a thank you note! Glad you like it, it was an amazing discovery for me too, for the longest time ever I was dubious about it too, I thought I have my other oils, what it can co what others can’t – that sort of thing.. How wrong I was! It is an amazing oil, the best natural discovery since coconut oil for me 🙂 It is truly your face’s best friend 🙂 and how funny, I didn’t like Trilogy one, because it smelled rancid to me, so I am using other brands, but each to their own I guess? I am glad it is working out for you, and how funny – now I own pumpkin seed oil because of you! I haven’t used it on my face, but for my oatmeal and salads it’s fantastic and so good for you! Love your posts, please keep up the good work and take care! xxx

    • Haha! Nice surprise! 🙂 I thought you’d seen it. I always knew rosehip oil was great, but I didn’t have any money to spend on another oil. I’ve repurchased it since from a different brand and I still use it every day. Glad you’re enjoying pumpkin seed oil! 🙂 I still use it on my body every single day. xx
